What do we understand by Non Formal Education?
There are several approaches on Non-Formal Education which are defined by the context in which this current applies as a methodology of active participation or even as an educational process and / or political.
Here we are interested not only understanding what is Non-Formal Education but also its connection to the student / youth movement.
For the European Youth Forum (2003, pg.3) Non Formal Education “is an organized educational process which takes place alongside the mainstream systems of education and training and does not typically lead to certification. Individuals participate on a voluntary basis and as a result, the individual takes an active role in the learning process.”

Why Youth /Students Organisations are important providers of Non Formal Education?
Youth / students organizations organize initiatives where young people can acquire other skills, share experiences, learn, facilitate, training, etc. These are initiatives that also bring them social and educational components that are not easily acquired through formal education. And it is here that organizations develop a vital role in providing youth spaces and methods of learning that formal education does not offer.
The organizations that are mentioned in this blog are European or International which means that their activities usually take place in different contexts/places giving participants the opportunity to have intercultural experiences and diverse environments.
